Growing up, my mother always had indoor plants housed in our lounge wall unit (before tv stands were a thing). The upkeep of this look was an endless labour of love, watering and caring for them, trying to preserve every bit of green they could offer. I didn’t appreciate the natural beauty that these plants were intended to bring into our home at the time, but after seeing how these pink blooms breathed life into my home, I think I get it now.
Weeks of chasing work commitments and hardly spending time in the outdoors can leave the soul feeling, well, depleted. And so, sometimes you need to bring the outside in, and a short trip to the grocery store can be just the solution.
A quick squiz at the various flower assortments and I knew that these simple flowers were subtle enough for our small home, yet significant enough to bring in much needed natural life.
I marvel at how little things, simple things, can have such an uplifting impact – a slow walk on the beach, cloud-like fog covering the seas on a crisp winter’s morning, a flourishing garden giving thanks to a drizzle of rain. The world is made complicated enough as is. Isn’t it great then, that amidst the hustle and bustle of life, the tugging and pulling, we can find those little things that simply make all the difference.
PS: my husband unintentionally made an appearance in the image above. But then again, it’s the little things that make all the difference 🙂
